PRIORITIZE MARINWOOD VILLAGE STORES
The Community Reps have been given an assignment for the next Marinwood Village planning session.
The assignment is to prioritize the retail stores the Community would like to have at the Village Center.
The Community has been voicing its opinion on this issue beginning with the Community Vision Meeting in July 2000.
The top preferred Retail Stores have remained constant: 1. full service grocery store, 2. coffee shop and
3. restaurant.
Beyond the top three there is a long list of convenience type stores which residents have stated they would like to see at the Village Center. You will have an opportunity to make public comments regarding your preferences when the Community Workshops are scheduled. Of course, there is an economic constraint which is at play here, that is, we will only get the stores which, the economic experts conclude, will be economically viable at the Marinwood Village Center.
Nontheless, it never hurts to do our homework. Below is a list of retail stores and a rating system:
(a) absolutely required, (b) extremely important, etc.
Rate your priority for each type of store by placing the appropriate letter next to the number which matches the store you want to rate.
For example, if you typed 1.(a) that would mean that you feel that a Full Service Grocery Store is absolutely required, or if you typed 5.(b) that would mean that you feel a Dry Cleaners is extremely important, and so on. Please feel free to add and rate anything which does not appear on the list.

4th Wednesday meeting
A number of questions came up at the last meeting:
• How does the idea of Organic Stalls at the planned Marinwood Village Center fit in with the Upscale look we have been promoting? Answer – We were premature in tying the possible addition of county street space to the project to the introduction of a possible West Marin Organic Produce outlet. The addition of the street space for the county does provide more space to work with in designing the Village Center. All options to use that space are still on the table.
• Can the trees be saved at Marinwood Plaza? Answer – Probably not and the majority felt they did not want to save them anyway. The trees are not native. They are messy. They more than likely will be in the way of construction especially with reclaiming a portion of the road.
• When will the Marinwood Village Center Focus Group meet? Answer - The community representatives are developing a meeting schedule which will include sessions with the Design Vison Committee, The Focus Group and the whole community in addition to the ten sessions with the property owners and the county.
The 4th Wednesday meetings take place at 7:00 PM at the Marinwood Community Center in the rear conference room. Everyone is invited to attend. At each meeting your community representatives provide an update on the various projects underway and expect to hear your comments and suggestions. The next meeting is June 29.

Fire agreement
In a previous update it was reported that the agreement to provide emergency response services to North San Rafael was probably going to be cancelled. It appears that indeed that is the case. However, a new one year agreement has been negotiated and will be presented to the Marinwood CSD Board of Directors at their June 7, Budget Hearing at 7:30 PM. If approved as submitted, the agreement will provide for the continuation of the current service levels while a long term solution to a regional emergency response issue is developed between the city of San Rafael, The county of Marin and Marinwood.

Provocative Question
A new recurring feature to stimulate discussion in our community. This month’s question – The State Legislature is considering a law that would allow the Marinwood CSD to establish a design review board and enforce local CC&R’s. Should the Marinwood CSD take on this responsibility once the state grants permission?
